What is the Parent Community?
If you are a parent or carer of a child at Oxgangs Primary School, you are a member of the Oxgangs Primary Parent Community. Yes, that means you!
If you wish to contact us, please click here. We also communicate through our Facebook page to keep you updated with news, events, & more.
What is the Parent Community Council?
The Community Council (lets call it “the Council”) is made up from parent volunteers from the Parent Community, teachers and local officials. You can see who we are here.
We are here to represent the views of parents on the education provided by the school and any other matter affecting the education and welfare of pupils. You can read more detail on how the Council works & how to get involved here.
The Parent Community Council meets once to twice per term of the academic year. The meetings take place in the School Staff Room from 6.30pm to 8pm.
- AGM Wednesday 17 September 2019
- Wednesday 30 October 2019
- Other meeting dates still TBD
What other groups can I help with?
If you want to be even more involved, the choice is yours. For example, the Fundraising and Events group is a Parent Community Council subgroup but is an essential core parent activity. In the year 2016/17, over £7500 was raised, without which, the school would not be able to fund the outings, events, and extra equipment this money provides. Come & join, and we could make even more!
These are the current subgroups you may be interested in getting involved in. All of these groups could currently do with additional help, however small, so get in touch if you're interested. Don't worry, you won't get hauled in never to be seen again!
What else?
The website also contains information about school clubs, details of forthcoming events, an area to sign up to volunteer for events, minutes of previous Parent Community Council meetings, a list of links to more detailed education related information, as well as school term dates. However, we're interested to hear from our Community. What would you like to see on the website? Is there something you need to know, but can never find? Let us know by getting in touch, and we'll see what we can do.
Oh, one final thing - if you've been looking for the Oxgangs Primary School website, it's here.
